Let Go arrived in 2002 and rewrote what a teenage pop star was allowed to look like. Avril Lavigne, seventeen when most of it was made, sang in a necktie and skate shoes about being sick of people who put on an act, and millions of teenagers heard themselves in it. It became one of the best-selling debut albums of the decade and made her, almost overnight, the face of a scrubbed-up, radio-ready pop-punk that ruled the early 2000s.
